Davanzati, Bernardo. SCISMA D'INGHILTERRA CON ALTRE OPERETTE. Florence: Maffi, e Landi, 1638. 8" x 5.75". Collates [12], 5-204 pp., with woodcut to title, woodcut portrait to title verso, and this copy also with an added engraved portrait mounted to stub and bound as a frontispiece. This copy without the divisional title a1 and without the dedication to Giovanni Bardi a2, which is often the case. Bound in 19th c. marbled boards. ************* First edition thus of this collection of works by Davanzati (1529-1606), a Florentine merchant and historian of the English Reformation. His work on the Reformation is followed here by two of his most important economic works: Notizia de Cambi (which sought a solution to monetary issues in that period), and Lezione Delle Monete (which offers an analysis of exchange.) Also included are orations and his work on agriculture.
Condition
Boards quite rubbed and spine chipped. Contents with some foxing and a few stains; a couple of marginal paper repairs, and two leaves mounted to stubs.
