Item Details
Description
Western Europe, Neoclassical, ca. 19th century CE. A brass protome bust of a woman or goddess in classical Greco-Roman style, her wavy hair rolled back and crowned by a diadem. Her breasts are bare, and she leans slightly forward. The bust is hollow with a threaded bolt for mounting this piece perhaps as an element or finial on a piece of furniture. This is probably a representation of Artemis (Diana), goddess of the hunt. Size: 2.2" W x 3.75" H (5.6 cm x 9.5 cm); 5.75" H (14.6 cm) on included custom stand.

Provenance: private Danvers, Massachusetts, USA collection, acquired by descent; ex-USA collection, acquired before 2000
