An original black and white photograph by American photographer and sports photojournalist Barney Stein (1909-1993), produced for the New York Post. The primary subject is Johnny Podres (1932-2008), American Major League Baseball (MLB) left-handed pitcher who spent most of his career with the Brooklyn and Los Angeles Dodgers. Podres is depicted surrounded Dodgers team mates and other figures at Yankee Stadium (New York) on October 4, 1955, immediately after he pitched a shutout during Game 7 of the 1955 World Series. That cross-town Series matched the Dodgers against the New York Yankees, with the Dodgers winning the Series in seven games to capture their first championship in franchise history. It was the Yankees' first loss in a World Series since 1942.
