A somber figural landscape produced in an early Expressionist style depicting a solitary female figure in long coat, with large display of botanical flower elements in a green bin, with architectural elements and other forms. Artist signature and dated DUMESNIL to lower right. Retains French language gallery label to verso, with photographed copy of a page from the 1960 French language edition of "Dictionnaire Critique et Documentaire des Peintres, Sculpteurs, Dessinateurs, et Graveurs," by Emmanuel Benezit (1854-1920), with 19th Century biographical information about the artist. Presented in a vintage to antique gold leaf frame.
