2 Ca 1860's Brevete Colt's Patent 44-cal engraved percussion dragoon revolvers, consecutively serial numbered 11 and 12, Colt's Patent is engraved on the barrel and on the brass frame also the cylinders are signed by Colt engraver W.L. Ormsby (1809-1883), the cylinder engraving has Native Americans on horseback, all parts have matching serial numbers on both guns except the chamber plunger on #11 has no number, engraving on frame is similar to Gustave Young (who did a lot of work for Colt), overall length is 14.5", barrel length is 7.5". In 1860's the demand for Colt revolvers in Europe was so high that Colt made a Royalty agreement with major gun makers in Belgium and the continent and sent parts to them to be assembled and embellished or were made by Colt Patent standards, Provenance, Robert Tess, Warsaw, Indiana
Condition
Still retains very little bluing, down to metal in areas, cylinder engraving is worn particularly on #12, the action works freely in Gun #11 but #12 the cylinder seems to be frozen, wear consistent with age and use
