4x6 Vintage color photograph signed "For Jim Wiggnes Sigmund Jähn" in red marker. Excellent condition. (1937-2019) Sigmund Jähn was a German cosmonaut and pilot who in 1978 became the first German to fly into space as part of the Soviet Union's Interkosmos programme.Jähn was the first German cosmonaut when he traveled to space with Soviet cosmonaut Valery Bykovsky aboard Soyuz 31 on August 26, 1978. The cosmonaut joined the East German Air Force in 1955 and became a pilot and military scientist.This lot came from the Jim Wiggins collection we purchased in July 2022. Jim Wiggins accumulated the most unique and valuable autograph collection over a period of 70-plus years. He obtained his collection either in person or by writing to persons of fame and notoriety.
