Illustrated hard boards [a little wear]; large: 8.1/4" x 11.1/4"; 224 pages, very good condition.
Don Irwin (1933-1998) artist born in 1933 in Toronto, Canada. He graduated from the London School of Art in London, Ontario, in in 1952, continued his art studies in Germany and at the University of California in Berkeley, joining the editorial art staff at the San Francisco Examiner in 1958. In 1965, Irwin became the Art Director at Classic Press in Berkeley, where he illustrated ca. 30 books.
,br>Striking out on his own in 1970, he began life as a full-time painter, concentrating on California land- and seascapes. He also painted in the American Southwest where he vacationed for many years.
His paintings are in numerous corporate collections and were exhibited in many shows at galleries from California to Texas. He was invited to show at the 1991 Invitational at the Eiteljorg Museum in Indianapolis, Indiana, and participated in the "Five American Artists" show in Tokyo and Nagano, Japan (1994).
