Chinese Qing Dynasty QianLong Ji Blue Porcelain Cong Vase. Potted in Cong shape vase, thick and tall, squared body, with short circle opening mouth and foot base, raised on round shallow foot. Warm and uniform dark blue glaze applied to the whole surface call Ji Lan, only the upper mouth rim and outer bottom is white glazed. Blue is the most important variety of China’s porcelain. Blue stands for healing, trust and long life. Shades of blue are used to decorate homes for longevity and harmony. Essentially tubes with a square cross-section and a circular hole, having rib molded corners in form of a traditional hair pin along the sides stacked as modules, one atop another. The shape of the Cong with its square and circular shape could be interpreted as 'the unity of heaven and earth' where the square represents the earth and a circle represents the heaven. The Under-base bears a reign mark, a six under glazed blue script characters reign mark. Made in The Years QianLong Reign Period of The Great Qing Dynasty.
