This is an antique platinum and 18K yellow gold brooch clip by Joseph Marchak (Russian/French, 1854-1918). Featuring an Old European diamond studded bird resting pearls forming a bunch of grapes. The bird is additionally adorned with carved ruby panel accents on the wings. The diamonds are VS clarity and GH color.

The pin is marked for JEC & Co, (JE Caldwell), a noted fine retailer in Philadelphia. Though there is not a Marchak signature on the pin, it was crafted in France, and is accompanied by the original Marchak box. We confidently attribute to Marchak.
2 3/8 x 1 1/8". It weighs 27.5g. The pearls range from 4.9-6.8mm. The total estimated diamond carat weight is 0.55cts

There are three points of old soldered restoration: two where the beak of the bird connects with the gold setting and one in the middle top third of the back of the setting. One missing diamond on the bird and one missing diamond on the branch as pictured. Normal wear to the jeweler's presentation box.
