Description
A Victorian Carved Mahogany Hall Chair, Late 19th Century. The shield form back with carved lion and acanthus motifs above a shaped seat and arms with carved lion handholds, raised on cabriole front legs terminating in lion paw feet, the back legs are square splayed and tapered, ending with a slightly spade foot. Together with a Louis XV style carved walnut low foot stool.
Dimensions: Height of chair 37 1/4in; width 25 1/2in; depth of chair 17 1/4in; seat height 14in; Height of stool 9 1/2in; width 27 1/2in; depth 12 3/4in.
Condition
The chair is structurally sound. Retaining an old dry finish. Marks, wear, rubbing, surface scratches and nicks overall. The stool is structurally sound. The upholstery is in generally good condition; darkening and toning to the brass studs. The frame with marks, wear, scuffs and surface scratches throughout.
