Description
An Assembled Group of Portrait Miniatures of Children, Late 18th - Early 19th Century. Watercolor. The group comprising six portrait miniatures of young children and infants. The portrait of the infant holding a rattle is signed 'E. Billotte'; the others portraits are unsigned.
Dimensions: Sight of each ranges from 2 x 1 5/8in to 2 7/8 x 2 1/8in; Frames range from 3 1/4 x 3 1/4in to 5 1/2 x 4 3/4in.
This lot comes from an Upper West Side, New York City collection that will be featured in a short lecture by noted specialist of portrait miniatures, Elle Shushan. Condition
Not examined out of the frames. Each portrait appears with general marks and wear throughout, small losses, surface wear and damage. The portrait of the infant holding a rattle against a green ground has a full vertical crack and warping. The portrait in the circular gilt metal frame with a full vertical center crack and warping. The frames with typical wear, scuffs, surface scratches and small losses throughout.
