Description
A warrant of unconditional pardon of Alexander Burghardt signed and dated, " U. S. Grant, 1874" together with a steel engraving of Ulysses S. Grant published by Johnson Fry & Co, New York. The items are framed, double matted, and under glass. Ulysses S Grant led the Union Army as Commanding General of the United States Army in winning the American Civil War, and served as the 18th President of the United States of America. JSA hologram certification number Z60869 on verso together with a notarized letter of authenticity by James J. Spence stating the pardon is signed using a steel-tip fountain pen and black ink. Scholars Junction list of unpublished letters lists this pardon as follows: FF 475 USG pardons Alexander Burghardt, August 7, 1874. Condition: good. Minor wear to corners of frame. One zigzag scratch to lower part of frame approx 1/3 from the right side. See images. Measurements: 16.5 H X 22 X 0.75. Weight: 3.3 lbs
