Edward Dufner is known as New JerseyÕs most important impressionist. He studied in Paris at the AcadŽmie Julian and with James McNeil Whistler, he returned to the United States in 1903 settling first in Buffalo and then in New York City. He began painting in the Impressionist style and taught at the Art Students Leagues of both cities. In 1910, he held special classes in Caldwell, New Jersey, and he spent most of his summers painting there. He is especially known for his paintings of children by a lake with ducks and birch trees as part of the composition. Dufner's work can be found in many galleries and private collections.(Artnet)
