Chris Roberts (Savannah, b. 1959), Telfair Square, Oil on Board, signed lower right, depicting Telfair square with Roberts amusing collection of Savannah characters including Uncle George who appears in many of his works and multiple Savannah artists and writers including Hattie Saussy, Ray Ellis, Irene Mayo, Dr. Preston Russell, Marcus Kenney, Kahlil Gibran, Christopher Murphy, Conrad Aiken, Pat Conroy, Johnny Mercer, Flannery O'Connor, locations include Jepson Center, Telfair Academy and Trinity Church.

Savannah artist Chris Roberts is a self-taught primitive artist who got his start in Atlanta, Georgia, in the late 1980s. Roberts first started showing publicly at the Carlson-Lobrano Folk Art Gallery in Atlanta in 1989, and later at the Ann Jacobs Gallery. After moving back to Savannah in 1997 and working as a tour guide, Roberts expanded his artistic style to encompass the entire Historic District, particularly Savannah's famous squares. He incorporates his knowledge of history, current events and a touch of fiction into his work to keep viewers on their toes. Those familiar with his work know to search each painting for the figure of Uncle George who makes his way into every scene. The Uncle George character is based a real friend of Roberts, his best friend's uncle, who travelled the world working for a newspaper and rubbing shoulders with everyone from Babe Ruth to Elvis Presley to Ghandi. Roberts is currently showing his work at the Reynolds Square Fine Arts Gallery.
