Ancient Greek, Attic Black-Figure Amphora c.6th century BC. Size 12 inches high. Rare black-figure footed amphora with twin strap handles depicting four Greek warriors battling wearing helmets shield, sword above. The hero Herakles wrestles the ferocious lion contest with shield and bow on ground, elaborate floral design at neck and below. Provenance: Private Historian collection Richard and Eleanor Brilliant NYC acquired 1960s. Original repair receipt dated 1967
