French Carved Walnut Marble Top Commode, c. 1870, the inset highly figured rouge marble over a fielded panel frieze drawer above three fielded panel setback deeper drawers, flanked by floral carved pilasters, on a plinth base on turned bun feet, H.- 40 1/2 in., W.- 47 in., D.- 19 1/4 in.

The top drawer has a small repair to its veneer on the left side. There is some light scattered areas of buckling to the veneer on the drawer fronts. There is a repair to the back left side of the case, and a dent to the lower right side. Marble top is largely intact with a few small chips to its edges. The fourth drawer has a shrinkage crack to its bottom and slightly sticks. Commode comes with key and locks are in working order. Handsome piece.
