Ontario. 1985. Wood, wire, fabric, string. A large and impressively detailed model of the C.P.R. passenger fleet ship the "Manitoba", built by George Frizzel of Owen Sound in 1985. The completely white boat carries all the riggings and flags, including lifeboats inscribed with its manifest. The model sits on an equally white plain base. The "Manitoba" was the first Canadian-built steel hull passenger ship built in 1889 by the Polson Iron Works in Owen Sound, Ontario. Inscribed, "MANITOBA" and "BUILT BY GEORGE FRIZZELL 1985". 42.25" x 45" x 17". From the late Jim Fleming Collection.
