Manufactured in 1962 in East Germany. Standard nitro proofs throughout. No visible import marks. Matching serials on the frame, barrel, and forearm. 28" O/U blued steel barrels with ejectors. Solid matted rib with white style bead. Chambers have a scroll border with "GEBRUDER MERKEL/SUHL" marked on the left side. Frame is polished with factory game scene engraving. Left side depicts a dog chasing a rabbit while the right shows a group of ducks in flight. The remainder of the frame has fine scroll engraving with "GEBR MERKEL/SUHL" and their logo in the center. Engraved, blued steel trigger guard. Double triggers and tang safety. Oiled walnut checkered pistol grip stock with European style right hand shooter cheek piece. Merkel three piece forearm with fine cut checkering, European style narrow metal sling swivels, plastic capped pistol grip and frame marked "70" for 2-3/4" chambers. Barrels are roughly full/full. LOP: 14-1/2". DAC: 1-1/2". DAH: 2-3/4". CONDITION: Fine with around 95% finish retained. Wood has a few very light handling marks and scratches. Bores are shiny. Mechanically fine. CALIBER: 20 Gauge.
