Magic Interest.- The Maskelyne Family Group of loose album pages featuring signatures by various members of the Maskleyne family, comprising: John Nevil Maskelyne, his sons Nevil and Edwin Archibald, their wives Ada and Cassie, Nevil's sons Clive and Jack and another one ('E. Maskelyne'), possibly John Nevil's wife Elizabeth, the pages also featuring signatures by music hall and stage stars, light handling wear, 5 leaves in total, 20 x 16cm, late 19th-early 20th century. (5) ***The Maskeleynes were a family of famous British magicians between the end of the 19th and the early 20th century. John Nevil Maskelyne (1839 – 1917) was an English stage magician and inventor of the pay toilet, along with other Victorian-era devices. His son Nevil took over the family's company after his father's death. He was a public detractor of Guglielmo Marconi in the early days of radio.
