WWII Japanese Type 90 helmet with Military Police painted in Japanese kanji in red and "M.P." above in white. Exterior of helmet shows some signs of possible repainting (e.g. drip marks around rivets). We have been unable to find a similarexample of this painted helmet and the kanji appears to more closely match that on U.S. occupation forces armbands than the Japanese armbands, so it is possible that the writing was added later, possibly by American forces duringoccupation.
