A small group of literature from the Pennsylvania Railroad General Office Library related to freight traffic for the Pennsylvania Railroad spanning 1917 to 1940. Six of the pieces are in labeled cardboard folders marked with the library call numbers. Literature among the group includes A More Efficient Plan for the Handling of Less Than Carload Freight on the Pennsylvania Railroad dated 1917 and embossed with the PRR Library seal. Container Car Service dated 1929, Containers Past and Present by Paul Warner dated 1937, and Modern and Efficient Elevator for the Handling of Export, Import and Domestic Grain with a stamp dated 1935. Two copies of The Merchandise Traffic Problem dated 1938 with the Pennsylvania library keystone sticker and embossed seal. The interior of both has separated from the binding at the staples. A report for Merchandise or Less-Than-Carload Freight dated 1940 showing tears along the top, torn corner, and wear along the edge. Group varies in condition from good to fair showing discoloration from age, worn edges, and writing marks. See photos for best description.
