Description
This is a very early and rare cigar vending machine, manufactured by the International Vending Machine Co. of St. Louis and distributed by the Standard Vending Machine Co. of Hazleton, Pennsylvania. Beautiful quartered oak case in original finish and patina showing excellent grain, 3-position vending, cast iron legs in copper flashing as well as all the hardware. This version is a multi-denominational machine, with the first position being for 5ยข cigars and the second and third for 10ยข cigars. Originally manufactured in various sizes, with 3, 4, 6, 8 and 12 vending positions. This 3-position version provided variety without taking up square footage. Cigars were gravity-fed into the mechanisms directly from the cigar boxes, as laws of the day required clear view of the tax stamps. CONDITION: Shows overall aged patina, a beautiful curved glass presentation, dark, non-pitted patina to the legs and hardware, and an original finish cabinet with darkened varnish, and scratches and scuffs with some finish loss. Complete working mechanisms will need lubrication and the machine is missing the knobs at the end of the push rods for dispensing. A great vending machine that would look great when filled with colorful cigar boxes. Manufactured during the same time period as Mills, Caille and Watling upright slots, and would look perfect in a saloon setting. This is not a standard shippable item and will require 3rd party shipping or pickup arrangements to be made. Condition: (Good). Dimensions: 28" x 19 - 3/4" x 55 - 1/4".
