Wild Yellow Roses, hand painted porcelain plate, 11 3/8 x 11 3/8 x 1 1/4, signed upper left: LA Donnell, Lucretia Ayers Donnell and Lucretia Donnell Coke were a mother-daughter duo who were both strongly influenced by Frank Reaugh’s teaching and mentorship. Lucretia Ayers Donnell graduated in 1912 with a Fine Arts degree from Mary Hardin Baylor College in Belton, and founded the International Porcelain Painters Organization. While she was taking art lessons at Frank Reaugh’s Oak Cliff studio, Reaugh recognized her daughter’s budding talent and asked if he could teach her as well. ‘Little Lucretia’ become one of Reaugh’s prized students and went on several of his sketch trips to West Texas and New Mexico.
