Greek or Western Greek 4th-2nd cent. B.C. Marble.
H. 6 11/32 in; 16.1 cm. W. 7 3/64 in; 17.9 cm. D. 5 7/16 in; 13.8 cm
Architectural attachment in the form of an antefix. As an ornament, a three-dimensionally offset, upright palmette, which is framed by a border at the bottom and to the sides. Part of an architectural element that originally continued on both sides and to the rear.
Tool marks have remained on the back and underside of the fragment. Underside with anathyrosis.
Formerly Coll. Helene Wackernagel-Wenk (1901-1979), Switzerland; thereafter by descent to the grandson.
