Etrusco-Corinthian, last quarter of 7th cent. - 1st quarter of 6th cent. B.C. Clay. H. (including handle): 10 45/64 in; 27.2 cm
Bulbous wine jug with a high, double-ribbed handle from the trefoil mouth to the shoulder; between neck and shoulder semicircular profile edge. Glazed neck, upper belly, handle and base. Stylized tongue frieze in glaze on the shoulder; two wavy bands on the neck, lines on the belly in opaque white.
Small chip at the foot. Varnish abrasion.
Formerly priv. coll. Prof. A., Basel. Thence by descent in the family.
