Description
Hubbell beads were glass imported from Italy and Bohemia as a form of trade currency between trading posts and the indigenous people the Plains area. Though there is no significant evidence that the practice of trading the beads originally were practiced by Lorenzo Hubbell, owner of the Hubbell Trading Post, the beads are still associated with the name. This two-tier choker consists of an array of cobalt blue, black and red hubbell beads embroidered onto leather cord and is accented with 5 animal talons set between 12 brass beads.
