The black lacquered hinged box on scrollwork legs, all with mother-of-pearl and abalone inlay, the tabletop depicting a rooster and hen amongst cherry blossoms and other foliate motifs; the interior fitted with a compartmentalized tray and embroidered silk sewing bag underneath

Overall good condition with scattered scuffs, scratches, nicks, shrinkage cracks, indentations, and separation at joints commensurate with age. As well, there are scattered losses to both the lacquered finish as well as the shell inlay. Lastly, front right foot has a significant crack to the wood. Lacking key.
