Rare C. 1901 Stern Bros. thimble with 6 images of Dolly Varden on its face. Dolly Varden was a character from the 1842 Charles Dickens novel "Barnaby Rudge," and was loosely made into a play in 1902, with Stern Bros. advertising this souvenir thimble prior to its release. An identical thimble was sold Aug 12, 2006 at the Thimble Collectors Auction, Seattle, WA. Good condition, with minimal wear as expected with age and use. AJ.
