Item Details
Description
Antique two [2] pieces set of large platter and small lidded container, both have shape of Victorian lady's hand fan, transfer decoration, Haidinger / Springer Company, Elbogen, Austrian Empire. Arm and stiletto porcelain marks, additional embossed City of Elbogen [elbow] mark, 1880s.

The platter is 14.1/2" x 7.1/4" [36.8cm x 18.5cm]; the container is 4" x 3" [10.2cm x 7.7cm]; a little golden rim wear, one small chip on the edge of the inner side of the container's lid [see photo], otherwise no chips, no hairlines, very good condition.

This arm and stiletto mark was used by Haidinger, and later by Springer Porcelain Manufacture of Elbogen, Bohemia (now Loket, Czech Republic) until 1918. The pottery was founded in 1815 by Rudolf Eugen Haidinger and Eugen Haidinger and operated under various names and owners. It became Springer & Co. in 1885. After WWI, in 1918, the company joined OEPIAG, an association of potteries. In 1920, the name of the association was changed to EPIAG (First Bohemian Porcelain Industry). The pottery was nationalized in 1945 and became part of Starorolsky Porcelain.
