A Charles X ormolu mounted burr birch, maple and satinbirch secretaire a abattant or secretaire on stand
Circa 1830
With floral, lyre, palmette, anthemion, C-scroll, classical mask, rocaille, flower-filled urn and musical trophy mounts, the long frieze drawer above the hinged fall front mounted with a central oval foliate cast mount inset with a contemporary oil on copper depicting a classical or historical scene [probably Theseus and Phaedra], enclosing an interior comprised of one frieze drawer above two central letter storage boxes with gilt tooled leather facades, flanked by ten short drawers, over one long and two short drawers, with two long drawers below, terminating in acanthus wrapped lion paw feet, 101cm wide x 42cm deep x 153cm high, (39 1/2in wide x 16 1/2in deep x 60in high)
