New York, March 1943. First edition. Double issue, Numbers 2 and 3. 4to. 143 (1) pp. Edited by David Hare, with the assistance of Andre Breton, Max Ernst, and Marcel Duchamp. With numerous full-page and in-text illustrations by Breton, Leonora Carrington, Marc Chagall, Roberto Matta, Giorgio de Chirico, Duchamp, Ernst, Andre Masson, Joan Miro, Dorothea Tanning, and others. Original stiff illustrated wrappers by Duchamp with his "ready-made" chicken wire inset on rear cover, scattered edge-wear; all edges trimmed.

Published in only four issues between 1942-44, VVV was an experimental New York-based magazine devoted to the dissemination of Surrealism. Edited by David Hare with the assistance of Andre Breton, Max Ernst, and Marcel Duchamp, the short-lived magazine featured contributions from some of the leading avant-garde artists of the period, many of whom were in exile in New York by the outbreak of World War II.
