This is an Antique circa 1850s-60s Listed Artist Louis Lussier Abraham Lincoln Portrait Oil Painting. It is a well done portrait and very likely painted while Lincoln was alive either just prior to being President or early in his presidency . Oil on canvas...Signature over his shoulder on the left...Lincoln appears younger than his later presidency years and Lussier painted in Illinois in this time period. Also possible this portrait was done with an actual sitting with Lincoln considering the artists history.Overall it measures 35 x 29 inches...It was obviously relined years ago and is still in pretty good condition . There are repairs as can be seen though they are in the dark back drop not in his likeness.Louis Lussier (1832-1884) was born in Canada and worked in Lincoln's native state of Illinois during the 1850s, '60s and early 1870s. He spent the remainder of his life in California.
