Victoria Fantin-Latour, Catalogue de l'Oeuvre complet de Fantin-Latour, Paris 1911, p. 218, no. 2053: 'She is stretched out, from behind, hovering above the ground, her head turned to the left and leaning on one hand, the other arm stretched out. She is covered at the waist with a lilac drapery.'

Under glass and unexamined out of the frame. The canvas is unlined and provides a stable support. There is a tiny old damage, just below the outstretched arm of the figure, which has been stabilised with a circle of varnish on the reverse, and another similar to the centre right. There is a repaired tear to the lower right. A chilled varnish in places. Examination under UV reveals infilling to the aforementioned areas, as well as a few spots elsewhere, beneath an opaque varnish layer.
