Description
A little research indicates that J. E. Caldwell & Company existed in Philadelphia going back to the mid 1800s. Clearly these sterling silver spoons have an engraved "C" and block lettering of PRR which is probably the Pennsylvania Railroad. Sterling railroad pieces are not common. I remember a few D&H holloware pieces showing up at a Depot Attic auction in the 1990s. Those were clearly from a business car. These simple spoons probably have a story to tell. The scrap weight of the sterling silver for the 9 spoons is about $125.00 today July 15: 5.45 oz x .9 x $25/oz.
