Description
First cast proof on paper of "Popeye's "How to Raise Kids." It shows Popeye the Sailorman carrying Swee'Pea with one arm as he reads a book. Popeye's acolytes are painted in comic strip boxes on the lower part of the cartoon magazine cover. Lew created this Neo-Pop style art by using American characters that she paints in bright colors on cast paper. These editions are between 2-D and 3-D artworks that are outrageously fun and yet, speak of artistic reproduction and consumerism, issues central to Pop artists of 1960s America. Signature in pen on lower right side: Lew. On lower left: 1/300. Frame size: 25.50"L x 32.50"H x 1.30"W. Artwork dimensions: 21.40"L x 29"H.
