Little information is available on the rare PH Badminton pendant light by Poul Henningsen. The lamp was reportedly designed in the 1930's for use in Danish badminton halls - much like its cousin the PH-8/6 Tennis Lamp, which graced the halls of iconic KB Hallen arena in Copenhagen. Louis Poulsen manufactured the lamp for the non-commercial market until it was phased out in the 1960's or 1970's - making the Badminton lamp much rarer than other PH models which remain in production today. Fittingly, the design of the Badminton pendant feels more industrial and utilitarian when compared to other lamps of the PH series. The simple silhouette features only two shades, with the interior diffuser suspended from a wire cage - creating a cone-like form that almost feels like a playful nod to the badminton birdie. As with all PH lamps, the shades are meticulously proportioned to diffuse light without dimming it, thereby maximizing functionality and comfort. This pair is finished in purple and white enamel paint for a bold and colorful look.Dimensions: H 10.5" x Dia. 16"Condition: Wear consistent with age and use. Interiors possibly re-enameled.
