AN 18TH CENTURY ITALIAN NEOCLASSICAL PARCEL GILT WALNUT BERGÈRE, FORTUNY UPHOLSTERY, PROBABLY UMBRIA, 1760s-1780s, the arched crest rail with layered relief bead chain, wrapped laurel leaf and leaf tip rail patterns divided in tripartite by canted stiles of repeating leafy stalks ending in Neoclassical acanthus bud finials, the padded wing arms and armrests ending in block rosettes with acanthus block hand terminals, flanking a serpentine seat with repeating beaded foliate and leaf tip seat rail, joining swan neck supports repeating foliate stalks to naturalistic acanthus leaves on block rosettes on distinctive tapered legs carved as feathered arrow quivers with twist beaded cuffs over leafy stop-fluting ending in ball feet, upholstered throughout in modern Fortuny Granada no. 5038 yellow and silver cotton fabric with matching double pipe trim.
