Description
A LOUIS XIV STYLE ORMOLU MOUNTED EXOTIC WOODS MARQUETRY INLAID CABINET ON STAND, FRENCH, CIRCA 1870, inlaid with kingwood, rosewood, burled walnut, tulipwood, and satinwood, the rectangular stepped cornice over a wide frieze with egg-and-dart cast trim above two cabinet doors with scrolling corner mounts centering leaf tip encadrements, enclosing inlaid oval medallions with scrolling foliate details in various woods, opening to a mahogany interior fitted with two adjustable shelves, over exterior gadroon trim with bellflower motif on a wide serpentine apron centering a gilt bronze leafy arabesque pendant, raised on tapered rectangular legs fitted with bearded grotesque masks, raised on short tapered square form feet with leafy encrusted egg-and-dart bronze mounts joined by an open stretcher shelf. Condition
Oxidation on foot ormolu and white discoloration to wood in same area. Repairs, small damages, crack/break to gadroon gilt bronze mount at left, veneer with some divots, cracks and general wear. Door sticks slightly.
