A NEOCLASSICAL REVIVAL EBONIZED WOOD BUST OF, "Dionysus," PROBABLY FRENCH, 18TH/19TH CENTURY, the waving hair parted at center is tucked at back and fitted with a diadem of full grape bunches and wide grape leaves; the classical, youthful face of the ancient Greek god of wine gazes forward. Height: 14 3/4" Width: 8" Depth: 6"

Condition

Cracks, chips, losses, scratches, rubbing of painted finish, small slivers of wood inserted into cracks and carved and painted throughout. Has an overall black lacquered appearance with remnants of bronze patina finish.
