NORM STOEKER (American/Texas) and HASKELL SILKWOOD (American/Texas 1933-2022) A PAIR OF OAK AND POPLAR NIGHTSTANDS, "Dogwood Blossom" and "Plum Blossom," 2020, each in a modern chinoiserie taste with a stained and dovetailed top on sides, enclosing a bone color painted frieze drawer centering a recessed panel carved in shallow relief with a single blossoming dogwood branch or blossoming plum tree branch on a stippled ground, above an open-backed compartment and bone color painted base stretcher shelf, each underside engraved "DOGWOOD BLOSSOMS (or) PLUM BLOSSOMS / NORM STOECKER & HASKELL SILKWOOD / 3 - 20." Height: 24 3/4" Width: 18 1/2" Depth: 15 3/4" Note: Norm Stoeker is a Houston area furniture artisan known for his fine craftsmanship and designs for most of the 20th century and early 21st. His emphasis on construction, clean lines, wood grains, and simple but striking decoration reveals a certain refined elegance that appeals to the modern taste for interior furnishings. This being done without forgetting the age-old craftsmanship in construction and use of dovetail joinery is all surmised beautifully with the present lot and the cabinet also offered in this sale.
