SHIWAN RED GLAZE JUN-STYLE BALUSTER VASE, QING DYNASTY, 19TH CENTURY
of baluster form having a thick crimson-red Jun-type glaze with vivid yellowish celadon splashes, unevenly finishing at the unglazed foot, the deeply recessed base being covered with a brown slip wash. 25cm high
For comparison, See two Qing dynasty 19th Century Shiwan ware vases with similar red glaze in the Metropolitan Museum collection, accession numbers 91.1.421 and 29.100.262. Also, a Qing dynasty 18th Century vase in the Victoria and Albert Museum collection, accession number C.370-1910.
