Description
VERY FINE EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA FEDERAL INLAID WALNUT WRITING / DRESSING TABLE, an outstanding example, the two-board rectangular top with banded and inlaid edge over a single full drawer bearing opposing panels of simple line inlay with incurvate corners, raised on tall square-tapered legs exhibiting simple line inlay that parallels the vertical profile. Yellow pine secondary wood. Retaining original lock, possibly original brasses, and an old surface with a warm color. Attributed to Lewis Bond, Tarboro, Edgecombe Co., North Carolina. 1820-25. 32 1/4" H, 22" x 29 1/4" top.

Condition
Very good overall condition with minor scattered wear and discoloration, slightly heavier to top. Minor professional repair to proper upper right corner of drawer facing. Possible minor repairs to inlay and banding.
