Description
RARE PETERSBURG, VIRGINIA FEDERAL MAHOGANY SIDE CHAIRS, SET OF SIX, four being period and two being bench-made copies by C. W. Hanks. Each featuring a scratch-beaded square back and crest rail above three vertical banisters, each flaring at the top and bottom and with a central circular element, above trapezoidal, molded seat rails and conforming slip seat, raised on tapered square front legs and flared rear legs, all joined by an off-set H-form stretcher and additional rear stretcher. Two yellow pine and two oak seat frames. They retain an excellent original surface. Four circa 1810. 34 1/2" HOA, 18" H seat.

Excellent overall condition, three with light age cracks to tops of front legs, one copy with chip to foot.Â
