VERY FINE NEW YORK FOLK ART RELIEF-CARVED AND PAINTED PICTORIAL PLAQUE, maple, an outstanding example of whimsical design, precisely depicting a stylized landscape featuring trees, birds, rabbits, and a large squirrel with a nut, all highlighted by extensive incised detail throughout. Retaining original polychrome surface with varnished ground. From a camp on Brantingham Lake, New York. Late 19th/early 20th century. 11 1/4" x 17".
