AMERICAN PAINTED TREEN FIRKINS, LOT OF TWO, covered slightly tapered form with coopered staves, lapped bentwood bands, and bail handle. Retaining their original dry green-painted and salmon-painted surfaces. Second half 19th century. 11 3/4" H to top, 11" x 11 1/2" D.

Provenance:

The important collection of H. Marshall Goodman Jr., Richmond, VA.

Condition

Good to very good as-found condition, green example with small loss to top of the cover, salmon example with a horizontal crack around the cover band, grim and staining.
