Japanese Earthenware Charger Emulating Mixed Metals, Hagihara Large charger decorated in high to low relief with a fierce Hawk on a maple branch with his eyes on the prey of three sparrows who flee in flight, in brown matte glaze with gilded and red toned highlights meant to simulate mixed metals. The rim is decorated with a band comprised of the key fret motif. Signed Hagihara Sei and Kisho zo to base with impressed seal mark.

Condition: Some glaze crazing and lifting to underside of charger at one side of base. Some small dents and glaze losses at edges. Chip to leaves at lower right side of charger.
