Description
Georges Braque Signed Print. Georges Braque (13 May 1882 - 31 August 1963) was a major 20th-century French painter, collagist, draughtsman, printmaker and sculptor. His most notable contributions were in his alliance with Fauvism from 1905, and the role he played in the development of Cubism. Braques work between 1908 and 1912 is closely associated with that of his colleague Pablo Picasso. Their respective Cubist works were indistinguishable for many years, yet the quiet nature of Braque was partially eclipsed by the fame and notoriety of Picasso. This print is believed to have been one of up to 30 prints from a period around 1953. Detailed Condition: Good. This vintage item shows sign of age through scuffs, dings, faded finishes, minimal upholstery defects. No visible repairs. Signed edition. Special H.C. (Hors Commerce) edition - French meaning: - For Commercial Use, these prints are sometimes unsigned by the artist and used to promote the edition and are supposedly not to be sold to the general public. Used to promote the sale of other prints. Larger than the 1963 single color edition. Size: 19-3/4 x 26. This edition has gold undertones. Possibly published by Maeght, Paris, 1954. UNFRAMED.
