Item/Description: Large signed Brania statement lapel pin brooch. This rare piece was designed for the jewelry house by master Italian jewelry designer and silversmith, Princess Mimi di Niscemi. Crafted from gold- tone metal with a matte brushed finish. Three serpentine ropes threaded into a love knot, sailor knot. Terminal ends have six black onyx glass teardrop dangles with decorative lacy cap findings. Roll-over pin clasp. Hallmarked: Brania in cartouche. Three dimensional design. Outstanding workmanship. Rare.

Mimi di N, as she was known in the trade, studied at the Philadelphia School of Industrial Arts and worked for illustrious jewelry houses including Schiaparelli and Scaasi. In the 1960s she designed for Brania and her unique pieces from the 1960s were marked as such. In later years through the 1990s, she designed under her own name.
