DESCRIPTION: Antique John Bliss & Co. marine chronometer, the silvered dial with "John Bliss & Co. New York No. 3077", black Roman numerals, seconds dial and wind indicator. On underside: "N-14015 N-X5411". Chronometer is set into a gimbal mounted inside of a wooden (probably mahogany) box; this mahogany box is housed within a second wooden box. With winding key. Not in working order; see condition.

CONDITION: One component, visible when the back plate is removed, is broken; complete mechanism has not been examined. Chronometer does not wind. Scratch to dial. Other mild wear to dial, numerals and chronometer case. Mild scratching to glass protecting dial. Lacking key to inner box housing gimbal and chronometer; mild wear to inner box consistent with age and use. Cracks to top of outer box consistent with age and use.
