Description
The map company started in 1867 by George F. Cram is well-known for making railroad maps for each state in the USA. This is a Cram’s Superior Map of New York based on the 1950 census. This is a rare map, as while most of their maps were printed on paper, they also did large versions that were paper on linen, designed for schools and lecture halls, much like many of us may remember hanging above the chalkboard in grade school, and the same as this version. This map is complete, and even includes its wooden hanging bracket. Small nails stick out of the bracket, which we will not remove, so the new owner can mount this to a wall or ceiling. It will be carefully wrapped when shipped. The map still retains its pull ring, and opens and retracts on its metal bar correctly! The map shows all of the railroad routes in New York at the time, and photos herein show some of these routes in and out of some of the major cities to give you a flavor of this full color map. Some minor tears and frays, and some light staining, but the map is complete. Always desirable, and appraises well.
